Botox Treatment

Neuromodulators
Botox injections are used for many reasons, wrinkles to excessive sweating and migraines.
The physical substance of Botox is derived from a neurotoxin botulinum toxin- a type of bacteria. The bacteria itself is highly toxic, but in small doses, it works well for cosmetic purposes to reduce wrinkles and fine lines, and assists in other non-cosmetic purposes like excessive sweating and migraines.
The effectiveness of Botox is attributed to its ability to block nerve signals, and temporarily relax the muscles in the targeted area.
Botox for Wrinkle Treatment
Horizontal forehead lines, laugh lines, loose skin in the jaw line, crow’s feet, bunny lines, forehead crinkling, and even the crease between your eyes can be smoothed and alleviated within a visit Botox can be used to give your brow a lift to make your eyes more open, a Nefertiti neck lift to tighten up the sagging skin in the jaw area, and masseter reduction to give you a heart shaped face. It has also proven its effectiveness as a non-surgical neck lift treatment. When injected into the problem areas (turkey neck, double chin) it lifts and narrows the lower face, therefore gives you a more youthful appearance.
For wrinkle treatments, it's best to start when you notice forehead lines, frown lines, or crow's feet even when your expression is neutral.
Botox Injections. Botox injections show considerable potential as one of the best treatments for sagging cheeks. This non-surgical cosmetic treatment was dubbed the “Nefertiti Lift,” named after the Egyptian queen with a gracefully elongated neck.
Botox only works on wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement. These are known as dynamic wrinkles, and are often called “expression lines.”
The most common dynamic wrinkles that Botox can treat are lines on the upper face, such as the “11” between the brows, horizontal lines on the forehead, and crow’s feet around the eyes. These lines are caused by smiling, frowning, squinting, and other facial expressions.
Botox will not work on fine lines and wrinkles caused by sagging or loss of plumpness in the face. These are known as static wrinkles. Static wrinkles include lines in the cheeks, neck, and jowl areas.
Botox Excessive Sweating Control
Inflammatory acne are considered a more severe type of acne that result in hard, under the skin pimples that are generally painful to the touch. These type of acne, similar to non-inflammatory acne, also occur when pores become clogged with dead skin cells and sebum, but the addition of bacteria also causes an infection.
Migraines Treatment by Botox Injection
Botox Injections also reduces the symptoms or sensation of pain in persistent migraine patients. Botox injections are administered around the temples of the head, shoulders, and neck. The exact science of Botox in migraines is not fully understood; however, it is hypothesized that the presence of Botox at the injection sites deter the pain signals from traveling and reaching the nerve endings, which is responsible for the experience associated with chronic migraine.
How Long Does Botox Last?
That depends on the treatment. Using neuromodulators like Botox for these trouble spots, your first treatment will take a week to ten days to start working and will last from three to six months. However, the next treatment will take effect faster and last longer. The physician can combine Botox with Dermal filler Injections to design the look that you want and it will last longer. After a few treatments, you may only need to get one treatment per year.
Possible side effects of Botox include:
- Drooping of the eyelid or brow if injected near the eye
- Weakness or paralysis of nearby muscles
- Hives, rashes, or itching
- Pain, bleeding, bruising, swelling, numbness, or redness
- Headache
- Dry mouth
- Flu-like symptoms
- Nausea
- gallbladder problems
Blurry vision or vision problems
The treatment may also fail to work due to antibodies that fight the toxin. This happens in less than 1 percent of people trusted source who have repeated Botox treatments, however.
We advise people not to rub or massage the area of the injection after having Botox treatment. This could spread the toxin to surrounding skin, causing muscle drooping and other problems.
Key differences
In summary, the differences between Botox and fillers are:
Botox: This freezes muscles to stop creases and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. These are typically found in the upper face, such as the forehead and around the eyes.
Dermal fillers: These use hyaluronic acid and similar substances to “fill in” or plump areas that have lost volume and smoothness. This includes wrinkles around the mouth, thin lips, and cheeks that have lost fullness. They may also be used on forehead wrinkles, scars, and other areas that need extra volume for a smoother look.
Botox results last 3 to 4 months. Dermal filler results vary, depending on which filler is used.
Because Botox and fillers are different substances designed for different uses, they can sometimes be combined in one treatment. For instance, someone may use Botox to correct lines between the eyes and a filler to correct smile lines around the mouth.
Botox and fillers are not recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. People who have certain health conditions or who take any medications should discuss whether Botox or fillers are safe for them.
